Reporting to: Group Financial Controller

Start date: ASAP

Purpose:

  • Supporting the Group Financial Controller and finance department by completing clerical and accounting tasks.
  • To provide support to the Head Office and overseas Accounts Team

Areas of responsibility (preferred but not essential)

  • Assist in the preparation of the monthly Group management accounts
  • Assist in the production of the detailed quarterly accounts
  • Carry out monthly balance sheet reconciliations and reviews, correcting any omissions or errors
  • Reconcile monthly the Debtors, Creditors and Payables module to the GL
  • Developing and contributing to financial systems and policies
  • Calculate, post and reconcile the monthly payroll for overseas technicians
  • Raise invoices for UK head office fees to overseas subsidiaries / associate companies
  • Reconcile and agree, on a monthly basis, intercompany account
  • Visiting overseas locations
  • Upholding and promoting the Company’s health, safety and compliance procedures
  • Assistance with the preparation of the annual Group budget and 3-year forecast
  • Monthly review of actual and comparative figures
  • Assisting with preparing and answering with the annual audit
  • Review, code and post project invoices (disbursements)
  • In conjunction with the Commercial Dept. raise code and send sales invoices to customers, as well as monitoring receipts and acknowledging monies received
  • Manage and reconcile the foreign and sterling petty cash
  • Provide support to Head Office Accounts team with the managing and accounting of our 5 overseas entities at month-end, quarterly reviews, etc.  With the goal to provide both cover and develop processes to increase efficiency, quality of reporting and information being provided.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility of this post, for which the post holder has the necessary experience or training

Qualifications

  • Ideally educated to degree level but as a minimum, applicants must have at least 5 GCSE (‘O’ level) standard including minimum grade C or 4 in Mathematics and English Language.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in accounts team and currently actively studying for an Accountancy qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA)

  • Able to work using own initiative when necessary
  • Competent with IT including Microsoft Office applications especially Excel
  • Ability to multi-task, manage workloads and prioritize
  • Ability to travel both within the UK and overseas when required

Experience (preferred but not essential)

  • Exposure to other cultures in either personal or professional capacity
  • Proficient use of Excel in a previous role
  • Proficient use of SAGE 300 in a previous role preferable
  • Exposure to reporting in USD and other foreign currencies
