Nectar Group and Nectar Mozambique were delighted to attend this year’s event, hosted by Cornelder de Moçambique, S.A.
As the 33rd edition of Intermodal Africa 2025 and recognised as the largest annual Ports and Logistics Exhibition and Conference in Africa, the event was a fantastic opportunity to engage with the future of East African ports, shipping and transport logistics.
The event was attended by 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗼𝗻 (Nectar Group Director) & 𝗔𝗻𝗮 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗮 𝗫𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗲𝗿 (Deputy General Manager – Nectar Mozambique) who brought back new perspectives and strengthened connections to further enhance our services across Mozambique and beyond.
The region is evolving with speed, and the following themes dominated the discussions:
Working towards increased integration – There are still challenges to be overcome. There is an increasing alignment between private operators, public authorities, shipping lines, freight forwarders, and customs in Beira and across the major ports in the region. Bottlenecks still lie inland and at border crossings.
The importance of agility cannot be overstated. Emerging markets are undergoing rapid change. As local production grows, terminals must adapt quickly to shifting flows due to import substitution or to unpredictable exports.
Focussing on long-term gains: Increasing tariffs, the Red Sea crisis, and the Maritime sector’s path towards zero emissions present both challenges and opportunities. As a result of vessel diversions around Africa, the region is already benefiting. With competitive tariffs and a potential for becoming an alternative fuel hub, disruptions could be turned into long-term gains.
Key Conference Highlights:
- Africa’s Growing Economy vs Intermodal Infrastructure and Handling Capacity
- Leveraging Economic Trade to unlock value in Landlocked Developing Countries
- Smart Port Transformation and Improving the Handling of Terminal Operations
- Optimising Port Management and Logistic Efficiency for Sustainable Throughput Growth
