Due to NSBT’s terminal and berth expansion programme, the Group has a new opportunity for a Port Engineer to join our growing team in Freetown, Sierra Leone. This exciting role is focused on all asset management plans for all plant, equipment, facilities and infrastructure assets, to ensure operational availability, capacity and financial forecasting via a rolling five-year plan.
This is a great career move for the right candidate to provide and ensure the health and safety of all port staff and users. To actively ensure that the environmental impact of any maintenance activities carried out within the terminal is minimized. Your role will also include the development of the team, through coaching and mentoring direct reports, and further challenging the existing ways of working.
To apply for this managerial position, you must have a minimum of 5 years of previous experience in a similar capacity with knowledge of cargo handling equipment and rolling stock. With the ability to demonstrate experience in project management and a proven track record of delivering support services. Higher education and formal qualification to B.Sc. degree standard in engineering-related discipline in conjunction with previous experience in a similar role in Africa is desirable.

Nectar Sierra Leone Bulk Terminal (NSBT) is Sierra Leone’s primary multi-user and breakbulk port. Located in the largest natural harbour on the African continent, NSBT is subsidiary of Nectar Group Ltd. NSBT is currently expanding its operations with a 3rd deep-water berth project. The new berth will facilitate the arrival of vessels of up to 225 metres in length with a 13-metre draft, improving the economies of scale in shipping cargo.
