At Nectar Group, we are proudly stepping forward in solidarity for International Women’s Day 2025 to help #AccelerateAction. This year we are pleased to feature inspiring members of our senior management team and celebrate all women across our global organisation. We are pleased to share insight from strong leaders in our organisations: Siamba Kamara (NSBT), Andrea Hemming (WWB), Julie Wallin (Management Accountant and Ana Cristina Xavier (Nectar Mozambique).
At the current rate of progress, it will take until 2158, which is roughly five generations from now, to reach full gender parity, according to data from the World Economic Forum.
Focusing on the need to Accelerate Action emphasises the importance of taking swift and decisive steps to achieve gender equality. It calls for increased momentum and urgency in addressing the systemic barriers and biases that women face, both in personal and professional spheres.
Nectar is working towards changing these obstacles. We’re listening to the voices of women who are already thriving in the port and cargo handling industry, utilising their insight, sharing their experience and emphasising why this industry is a fantastic place to work – for everyone.
It’s time to challenge outdated stereotypes and ensure that women know that the port industry is for them, too.
