Meet Maurice Edelson, the man behind ‘Unspoken to Unbroken’ with an incredible journey and message. A father from Zululand, he’s cycling the world to turn personal pain into global healing. He is breaking the silence around trauma and mental health, inviting everyone to share their stories and heal.
Our NSBT team were grateful to hear about this amazing adventure and to sponsor accommodation in Freetown as Maurice travels through Sierra Leone.

Unspoken to Unbroken has a very powerful message to share – Discover why this Journey Matters:
I’ve set out on this journey by bicycle — not just for the adventure, but to connect with the country-side and it’s people, hear their stories, and learn how different communities experience and respond to silent childhood trauma. I’m hoping to speak in universities, local clubs, and any space where people are open to conversation — because the more we share, the more we understand. This isn’t just my story. It’s something many of us can relate to. Pain is something we all experience. My wish is that we all experience the hope that can follow the pain of childhood trauma.
The Journey – A Global Ride for Truth and Healing. This isn’t a race. It’s not about speed or distance. It’s about the experiences along the way — and the people I meet. My aim is to cycle across countries and continents, guided by connection, curiosity, and a simple question I’ll be asking wherever I go: “What happens when we begin to speak our truth?”
From university lecture halls to small villages, from city cafés to local community groups — I’m using this time to listen, to learn, and to exchange stories. Every stop is a chance to understand more about how people, cultures, and communities approach pain, silence, and healing.
