Nectar Sierra Leone Bulk Terminal Honoured with Special Achievement Award at IBJ Awards 2025. NSBT has been recognised for its outstanding contributions to the maritime bulk industry at this year’s International Bulk Journal (IBJ) Awards, held on 17 November at the Titanic Hotel in Liverpool.
NSBT received the prestigious ‘Special Achievement Award – Cargo Handling’, a category reserved for organisations that demonstrate exceptional accomplishments within the global dry bulk sector. The honour underscores NSBT’s successful completion of the new third berth at the Queen Elizabeth II Terminal, as well as the terminal’s ongoing developments, improved cargo handling efficiencies and continuous operational improvements.
In addition to this accolade, NSBT was shortlisted for the ‘Best Dry Bulk Port’ Award, a title it previously won in 2016. This nomination reflects the terminal’s outstanding performance, innovative approach, and commitment to excellence within the dry bulk industry on a regional and international level.
Accepting the award on behalf of the terminal, NSBT General Manager Siamba Kamara expressed appreciation, stating:
“We are profoundly honoured to receive this distinguished award. This award reaffirms our commitment, dedication and resilience to improving the standards of cargo handling.
We view this recognition not only as a privilege but also as an inspiration to continue leading and contributing to the growth and success of our terminal.
I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to the Nectar Group, Nectar Sierra Leone Bulk Terminal Team, The Sierra Leone Ports and Harbors Authority and all partners who support our initiatives and to the wider community. This award belongs to all of you and thank you for being a part of this journey.
We extend our appreciation to the organisers IBJ and the industry for this acknowledgment. We are deeply grateful and inspired to keep striving for even greater heights.”
The International Bulk Journal, the world’s leading trade publication for the dry bulk industry, hosts the annual IBJ Awards to celebrate companies that demonstrate exceptional performance, innovation, and leadership in the sector.
NSBT extends its sincere gratitude to all who contributed to this achievement. This includes its dedicated employees — whose commitment drives daily improvements in service quality — as well as its valued customers, whose feedback and requirements continue to inspire dedication to provide the highest standard of service at the port.
Additionally, NSBT acknowledges the vital support and partnership provided by the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority and its current senior management, whose collaboration and guidance have been instrumental in advancing ongoing port enhancements to the benefit of all stakeholders.
NSBT Director Guy Wilkes commented: “This award represents a significant achievement, not only for the employees and management at NSBT, but more widely the management and staff at Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority, and the nation as a whole. It stands as an international recognition for all the hard work, positive transformation, and substantial progress taking place at the Queen Elizabeth II Terminal in Freetown”.
